Seals News – March 2017

Sherwood Seals LogoBefore we break up for the Easter holidays, I wanted to give you some important info and dates for when we come back.

Dates for next term

The next term is a short one running from 24th April up to Spring Bank Holiday and half term week. That includes the May Day Bank holiday when there will be no Seals, so the next session is only four sessions long. For those of you who pay in advance, the total cost will be £18. Otherwise, the cost will be as normal at £5.50 per session.

Trip to Splash Landings – 29th April

As hopefully all of you now know, we have landed on the date of the 29th April for the Splash Landings trip. I’m sure we will all have a great time and hope everyone is looking forward to it.

In terms of arrangements for the day, we will meet at the Rebecca Adlington Centre at 09:15 with the bus leaving at 09:30. That should mean we will arrive at Splash Landings at 10:30 to 11:00.

Once we have collected the tickets, you are free to enjoy the day and make the most of the facilities. I must stress that the club cannot be responsible for behaviour and safety when we are all in the pool and would ask that parents and carers take responsibility for those they are looking after for the day.

The bus will leave Splash Landings at 3:30pm and so arrive back at 4:30 to 5:00pm.

We can’t guarantee that the car park will be open when we return so please don’t park cars in the centre car park. There is plenty of on road parking outside of the centre so i’m sure you will be able to find a space.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The Annual General Meeting will be held on 2nd May at the Back Bull pub, Mansfield. There is a specific protocol to follow for the AGM, which will involve the re-election of the committee. Members, Parents and Carers are very welcome to attend and we would be happy of further help, input and support into the club.

Sherwood Seals is a completely voluntary club. We receive no direct funding from the local authority, and we rent the pool for our hour and half from Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre at the standard rates.

All of the committee have become involved over the years to ensure that the club keeps running and we all feel, as I am sure you do, that it is an important resource for the members.

We need fresh input into the committee to help and support the ongoing running of the club and I would encourage all parents and carers to think what they can do to help.
The committee don’t own the club, they are keeping it running. Sherwood Seals belongs to all of its members and their parents and carers.

Any support and input would be greatly appreciated and will ensure that Sherwood Seals can continue for a long time to come.
